Verbo Voices – June edition
News & Views . 23 June 2025
Welcome to June’s edition of Verbo Voices!
At this busy time, we’re sharing tools to support transitions, build confidence and make things feel more manageable — plus a look at what’s happening in the sector.
Confidence for their next chapter: Year 6 to Year 7
It’s that time of year again when Year 6 pupils prepare to take their next step — and for those with SLCN, the move to secondary can feel especially daunting.
That’s why we’ve created a Transition Booklet full of simple, structured activities to help, including:
🔍 What’s the same – and different – about primary and secondary school
🗓️ Using a timetable and homework diary
🎒 Knowing what to bring each day
🙋 Asking for help and solving problems
🤝 Reading a school map and making new friends
Sector news: Welcoming Early Language Support announcement
At the end of May, the Department for Education announced a £3.4 million extension to the Early Language Support for Every Child programme.
This funding, jointly provided by NHS England, aims to enhance early identification and intervention support for speech and language needs in young children.
Verbo warmly welcomes this renewed focus on early support.
It’s a positive step towards better outcomes for all children with SLCN and ensuring a focus on timely support with speech and language therapists and education staff working hand-in-hand.
Verbo is exhibiting at nasen Live 2025!
On July 4th, we’ll be at nasen Live 2025 at the Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham.
