Verbo Voices – May edition

News & Views  .  4 June 2025

Welcome to Verbo Voices! This month, you’ll find simpleready-to-use tools to support pupil voice and boost wellbeing for the pupils you support.

We’re here to help you support the children who need it most… and make your job that little bit easier too!

Why words matter

Did you know over 80% of children with emotional and behavioural disorders have speech and language difficulties — many of them undiagnosed.* When children struggle to say how they feel, it can affect their confidencebehaviourand overall wellbeing. As this month marked Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re offering simple, ready-to-use tools to help all year round.

Emotions in Stories  📖

For EYFS and primary: helps children recognise and understand an emotion through signs, expressions and storybook characters.

Expressing feelings 🌳

For primary and secondary:  a visual ‘Blob tree’ to help children name their feelings and talk about what might help.

Emotional regulation 🎥

For post-16: a video demonstrating the use of visual tools and strategies to help young people understand, express and manage their emotions.
